Times: Wednesday 4:00pm – 4.45pm, 4.50pm or 5.00pm depending age and group. This time is the same all year.
Cost: $160 for at least 14 sessions over the semester. If the weather is perfect we will run up to 16 sessions. In the event of poor weather, we will either move coaching to an undercover venue at Hunter Christian School or cancel the session. If more than 2 sessions are cancelled due to wet weather, smoke etc, catch up sessions will be offered.
Riders must have a Hunter Schools MTB coaching jersey to wear at coaching if they don’t already have one. This is an essential part of our risk assessment. This is an additional cost of $60 which can be selected during the registration process. This price is heavily reduced through generous sponsors.
As we are all Auscycling qualified coaches, riders will be fully insured for coaching if they have a valid Mountain Bike Australia Membership. To save checking that membership is current, a signed waiver is required each year. The waiver can be downloaded here.
The signed waiver must be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
In order to sign up for skills coaching, a rider must be able to:
Stop the bike safely with control
Mount the bike and start unassisted
Be aware of other riders and avoid collisions
Communicate clearly with coaches and others
* Parents will need to stay with their children for the session if these requirements cant be demonstrated.
The focus of our beginner riders will be:
Cornering – pedal position and vision
Braking – back vs front brakes
Ratching and slow bike control
Riding out of the seat
The focus for the developing riders will be:
Ratcheting / slow bike control
Ready position / attack position
Cornering – starting to look and lean (berms and flat)
